Our Story
Nearly three decades of community, connection, and generations working side by side. This is how a small-town coffee dream became a Berthoud landmark.
1996
The Dream Begins
Peder Thorstensen and Tiffany Heywood open Jo To Go, a small drive-thru coffee shop — one of the only ones in the area at the time. Tiffany is the visionary who brings Peder's dream to life.
1998
Growing Pains
After outgrowing the original location across the street, the shop moves to its current home at 429 — the iconic purple building Berthoud knows and loves.
2008
Back in the Family
After changing hands a few times, Tiffany purchases the shop back, with her oldest daughter Amanda helping run the business. The family legacy continues.
2016
Amanda Takes the Reins
Amanda officially purchases Jo To Go from Tiffany, becoming the new owner and carrying forward the tradition of great coffee and community connection.
2021
Joyful Brews Is Born
After a forced rebrand, the shop is renamed Joyful Brews in honor of Amanda's mother-in-law, Joy, who passed away that year. Joy embodied family, kindness, and spreading happiness to everyone she met.

Nearly 30 Years Strong
Joyful Brews represents generations working side by side — proudly woman-owned, community-rooted, and still finding joy in every cup.
